Airport staff 'must' accept offer
Jersey Airport
Security staff want payments for working shifts
Security staff at Jersey Airport who are threatening to go on strike on Wednesday have been told by their union leader to accept a pay offer.

Nick Corbel, from the Transport and General Workers' Union, said he reached a decision after discussions with the workers' employer, G4S.

Security staff were offered a 3% pay rise this year after they rejected an offer of 2.4%.

Early Flybe flights to Southampton and Gatwick have already been cancelled.

'Cause nuisance'

A special branch meeting is being held at Jersey Airport on Tuesday evening.

Members were preparing to go on strike from 0500 GMT until 0900 GMT on Wednesday, and again next Monday and Wednesday.

Airport director Julian Green said: "This is a dispute between G4S and its employees and Jersey Airport is unhappily caught up in the consequences of the strike.

"We will do everything in our power to reduce the nuisance and inconvenience it will inevitably cause to people travelling on the days on which this action will take place."
