Employment tribunal members named
Waiter
The tribunal's role is to ensure fair play in the workplace
Twelve islanders have been named as the new Jersey Employment Tribunal, with Advocate David Le Quesne nominated as the first chair.

They will play an important part in ensuring the rights of Jersey's workforce are maintained.

The tribunal came into being in April this year. It has an annual budget of almost 114,000 and works independently of the States of Jersey.

Mr Le Quesne's deputy is Mrs Nicola Santos Costa.

States approval

Both roles require the holders to be legally qualified.

All members have either knowledge or experience in trade union matters and employment law.

Tribunal members can serve two consecutive terms and are appointed on a staggered basis with terms of office ranging from one to five years, although they are free to resign or step down at any point.

States members will be asked to approve the nominations.
