A strike by manual workers in St Helier has been called off. About 100 refuse collectors, road sweepers, gardeners and masons went on strike on Monday in protest at shift changes for some rubbish collectors.
Some workers were being asked to change from a 0600 until 1400 shift to an 1100 until 1900 shift.
They have returned to work after the Transport Union agreed a deal with the parish for the new shift to start an hour earlier, from 1000 until 1800.
They were also upset over the treatment of two workers who were told their contracts would not be renewed under the new arrangements.
It is also understood the two workers concerned will continue to work for the parish.
Rubbish collection will restart in St Helier on Wednesday morning.
