 Teachers have agreed their pay for the next two years |
An independent arbitration body has been called in to help solve a pay dispute between Jersey's manual workers and the States. The Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service (JACS) is due to meet both sides on Friday.
Manual workers are asking for a one-year, 6% pay rise for 2004.
But the States says the Transport and General Workers' Union (T&G) is asking for a rise which is 2.3% over the cost of living, which it cannot afford.
Other States workers, including fire and prison officers, teachers and the police have already agreed their wages settlements for the next two years.
