JACS says it cannot intervene unless it is asked to |
An offer to help find a solution to Jersey's manual workers pay dispute has been made. The Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service (JACS) says it could liaise between the States and the Transport and General Workers' Union (T&G)
The union wants a 6% rise, but the States has offered 2.5%, - with a guarantee of no compulsory redundancies in the next five years.
JACS has written to both sides offering to help but it has not had a response.
The two sides have been unable to move towards a compromise so far.
Union leaders say they have a mandate from their members to go to arbitration, but Senator Walker, president of the Policy and Resources department, says he will only do that if all members are balloted.
A further meeting between the two sides will be held on Monday.
Patricia Rowan, a senior advisor at JACS, says the service is ready to help in any conciliation, but it would have to be asked to intervene first.
