The amount islanders in Jersey have to pay to post letters to the UK is to go up by 3p. It follows a decision by the Royal Mail in the UK to increase the amount the island has to pay for delivering mail.
From 1 April next year, the Royal Mail will charge Jersey an extra 3.5m for its service.
Jersey Post says because of that, the cost of stamps must go up. The cost of a Jersey stamp will also increase by 1p to 34p.
Deputy Patrick Ryan, president of the Postal Committee, says the increase in the costs is regrettable but he says everything has been done to try and keep local prices as low as possible by being as cost efficient as possible.
