Bible lessons through the post
A postbox
It is hoped the free scheme could be in place soon
A Jersey church group has come up with an original solution to the problem of falling numbers at the island's Sunday schools.

Children could soon be taught about the Bible through a new postal scheme.

The postal bible school is being launched by the Belmont Road Gospel Hall to try to increase the number of people involved in bible studies.

It comes as an exhibition aimed at teaching schoolchildren about the Bible comes to the island for the first time.

Worksheets marked

Steve Harzo, one of the exhibition's organisers, said the concept of the scheme is very simple.

"It's an opportunity for children, and adults as well, to do bible lessons in the comfort of their own home," he said.

"It's a completely free service, they just apply to us to join the postal bible school, and they would fill in the sheets each month and send them back to us."

The worksheets are then marked and returned.

It is hoped the free scheme could be in place within the next couple of months.
