Sweet temptation for congregation
St John's Parish Church
There will also be themed services every month
A Jersey church is offering every member of its congregation a free bar of chocolate on Sunday.

St John's Church is running a number of themed services in a bid to get more people to attend church.

The new-style church services are designed to stem a decline in congregations in Jersey.

It is hoped those who have been baptised in the church, married there, attended Sunday school or who have just move to the parish will attend.

In consultation with parishioners the Rector of St John, Reverend Andy Thewlis, has introduced three Sunday morning services including an 1100 GMT service designed to make the church seem more relevant to younger people.

There will also be themed services every month aimed at particular parts of the community.
