Twelve ringers are embarking on a 12-hour sponsored ring on Saturday, and they are hoping to include more than 120 bells.

The tower at St Bridget's Church in Bridgerule, on the Cornwall-Devon border, is in a dangerous condition.

The ringers are hoping to raise money towards the �30,000 needed to restore the tower.

The steel bell frame has been deemed unsafe, which means the bells cannot be used by the ringers.

The bells were installed in 1928 but have been silent since February.

The team of 12 will be ringing bells in 20 towers across north Cornwall and west Devon.
