Church aims to grow congregation
St John's Parish Church
There will also be themed services every month
New-style church services designed to stem a decline in congregations will begin in the Jersey parish of St John on Sunday morning.

The main morning service is to become a time for what is being called contemporary worship.

In consultation with parishioners, the Rector of St John Reverend Andy Thewlis has introduced three Sunday services.

The 11am service is being designed to make the church seem more relevant to younger people.

There will also be themed services every month aimed at particular parts of the community.

Reverend Thewlis hopes the changes will bring in both younger people and those who would not normally consider going to church.
