Men of the Trees encourages the protection of trees
Work is under way to clear an area of land in Jersey in preparation for the planting of commemorative trees.

About 100 saplings will be planted at Adelina Wood in the Mont A L'Abbe area of the island.

The wood was named after the mother of Enid Gautier, who donated the field which has space for about 100 trees.

Conrad Evans, from the Jersey Association of Men of the Trees, says people have many different reasons for wanting to plant a tree.

He said: "Many use it to mark birthdays and marriages, while some people use it as an opportunity to commemorate the passing on of a loved one or a friend."

Men of the Trees encourages the protection and preservation of trees throughout the island.
