A new community woodland is being unveiled in Jersey. The woodland will provide somewhere for people to plant a tree in memory of a loved one or celebrate a special event.
The area will be known as Adelina Wood, after the mother of Enid Gautier, who donated a field at Mont a L'Abbe with space for 100 trees.
Planting will be started in December by the Jersey Association of Men of the Trees, which has been searching for a suitable site for several years.
The association was formed to encourage the protection, preservation and planting of trees throughout the island, and to foster a love and appreciation of trees for the amenity.
The new woodland will eventually join up with existing woodland on the west slopes of the Vallee des Vaux.
Jersey's Lieutenant Governor, Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire, will join the group for the first planting on 9 December.
