Thieves wrench trees from ground
Police are appealing to dog walkers to help them catch thieves who took six saplings from a park.

The group of two-year-old trees were wrenched from their beds at the Pound Lane recreation ground in Sonning, Reading, Berkshire.

Council gardeners discovered they were gone on Tuesday when they returned to work after New Year's Eve.

Officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the park, a popular dog-walking spot.

The thieves left behind a seventh sapling, which was in poor condition.
