New smell of success for rubbish
Rubbish
The States will debate the islands waste strategy next month
A new recycling plant could be the solution to complaints about the smell from a composting plant in Jersey.

Last year islanders recycled around 10% and composted a further 12% of their waste - by the year 2009 officials want this figure to rise to 32%.

But residents at Bellozanne have persistently complained about the smell from the recycling plant.

A new plant, possibly at La Collette, would tackle odour control by being completely contained within a building.

The Waste Management proposals are due to be debated in the States on 5 July.
