Builders aim to raise standards
A new council is being set up in Jersey to raise standards in the construction industries.

The Jersey Construction Council aims to improve training and recruitment opportunities across the industry.

About 4,300 people work in construction and represent 10% of the island's workforce.

Full members of the council will be made up of contractors,sub-contractors, producers and suppliers and associate members will be drawn from other areas.

The council has also been registered as a public company so it can be recognised as a quality hallmark and act as a collective voice for the industry.

Representatives of the industry are attending a meeting at St Paul's Centre on Monday night.
