The computer programme gives the potential cost of projects |
A computer programme developed in Guernsey could improve the way Jersey's building industry is organised, it has been claimed. Politicians from Guernsey have been in Jersey to speak to their colleagues about the future of the industry.
Guernsey's authorities developed the Economic Model of Construction jointly with Sheffield Hallam University.
The computer programme gives information about the potential cost of projects.
Stabilise industry
It can then help with decision-making and prioritising building work, to make sure it is carried out efficiently.
It is hoped this could help stabilise the construction industry in the islands.
More than 20 people, including States members, discussed whether the model used by Guernsey would be suitable for Jersey.
They decided it would, saying it could help produce a clearer picture of the industry, as well as helping to lower tender prices.
