Young jobless offered advice
A new centre is opening on Wednesday in Jersey for young unemployed people.

Organisers of the Jersey registered charity, the Youth Inclusion Project, say there should be more for young people without work to do.

Staff of the centre at James Street, St Helier, have experience working with young people and are hoping to give them a start by providing a place with access to the internet and advice about getting work.

Jersey's Arts Trust has helped with funding to get the project, aimed at people aged between 16 and 21, off the ground.

Organisers hope the centre will be a place for young people to get informal advice about their lives and careers.

Unemployment is rising in Jersey, with 674 registered jobless in December last year, compared with 642 in November.
