A Jersey campaign group is asking the States for help to prevent young people from turning to crime. The 'Prison Me, No Way!' campaign, which educates young people about drugs and crime, is looking to fund a full-time post.
At the moment, three volunteers are doing the work of one person and they say a new full-time post should be paid for by the States.
Prison Me, No Way! was set up two years ago following the start of a UK campaign to help keep the number of young offenders down.
The group also runs days of workshops at various primary and secondary schools across the island.
Pupils are treated like inmates and are escorted in silence to different discussion groups to learn more about drugs, crime and prison life.
One of the campaign co-ordinators, Detective Constable Alan Bisson, said they had just started approaching various States committees to ask for funding.
