Release scheme reviewed
La Moye Prison
Home leave will be suspended while the report is prepared.
An independent report has been commissioned to look at the temporary release scheme at Jersey's prison after a number of incidents of inmates breaking home leave rules.

Details of the report were revealed by the president of the Home Affairs Committee, Senator Wendy Kinnard.

Senator Kinnard told the States her committee had decided to act after it emerged a young offender on home leave allegedly became involved in an assault which left another youth in hospital.

She said so far no charges had been laid against the youth but it was because of the incident that her committee held an emergency meeting on Friday.

Senator Kinnard hopes the report will be completed by the end of this month.

During this time home leave will be suspended.
