Jersey's government expects to spend �5m less of taxpayers' money on major building and projects over the next year.New figures show spending on schemes like new schools and offices for 2002 to 2004 fell to just under �134m.
The figures indicate spending on non-States projects fell by �12m, from �189m to �177m.
By the end of December next year, it is anticipated �273m will be spent on construction in the island, a fall of over �30m when compared to predictions two years ago.
The figures are published by the Economic Development Committee, which is responsible for monitoring the health of the island's construction industry.
