Work is forging ahead on a new fast craft which is due to enter service with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company next year.

The ship, currently known as Incat 050, will primarily service the seasonal Liverpool to Douglas route.

It was brought 10,000 miles from Tasmania to Portsmouth during the summer, and has now being has been completed stripped, ready for a re-fit.

Construction has also begun on a new vehicle ramp for the craft.

Chief Executive of the Steam Packet, Mark Woodward, said there was now a "blank canvas on which to paint".

The 96m (314ft) catamaran will be the largest vessel of its type in the Irish Sea.
