Sailings a success, company says
Ben-My-Chree
Ferries regularly run to Merseyside and Heysham
Winter sailings between the Isle of Man and Merseyside have been a success, according to figures released by the Steam Packet ferry company.

The Ben-my-Chree service to Birkenhead has had no cancellations and passenger figures are up 29% the company said.

The Birkenhead service continues until 24 February before reverting back to the Liverpool landing stage.

The company sparked protests when it suspended the service to Liverpool Pier Head between 9 November and 1 March.

Instead it sails the Ben-My-Chree from Douglas to Birkenhead in Wirral.

Mark Woodward, chief executive, said: "December figures show a marked increase in passenger traffic to and from the port. The service has received good feedback from our customers.

He added: "As the recent weather has resulted in some disruption to the Heysham service I am pleased to report that our weekend sailings to Birkenhead have suffered no such problems."
