The petition was handed in to the OFT
A petition set up to protest against the axing of winter trips between the Isle of Man and Liverpool has been signed by more than 2,000 people.

A copy of the online petition was officially handed over to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) on Monday.

It was set up after the Steam Packet Company announced it would not sail any ferries from the island to Liverpool Pier Head at weekends until March 2008.

Nick Black, OFT chief officer, said the issues would be taken seriously.

He told Frank Scheungel, who organised the petition on manxforums.com, that it would be considered by the relevant authorities.
