Safety is of utmost importance during the Manx Grand Prix |
The Department of Transport has launched this year's road safety campaign for the Manx Grand Prix. The initiative follows the 'Take Itt Easy' safety campaign for the island's TT festival which celebrated its centenary anniversary in May.
It features messages urging local and visiting motorbike fans not to speed or drink drive during the Grand Prix.
Billboards and posters will be placed around the island reiterating the message during the two-week event.
Prohibited area
The Mountain Road will remain two-way for the duration of the Manx Grand Prix unlike for the Centenary TT when the Mountain Road was made one-way due to the high number of visitors on the island for the festival.
Spectators are also being asked to keep clear of the prohibited areas which are marked with clear triangular warning signs.
In addition, the Road Safety Unit will be organising displays at various locations over the island.
Gordon Edwards, Road Safety Manager, said: "We are all looking forward to a busy and enjoyable Manx Grand Prix but please take heed of the road safety message and drive or ride safely around the Island."
