Organisers said several bookings have been made for the weekend
Tourism bosses have announced plans for a second Isle of Man Walking Festival later this year.

The autumn weekend event, to be held in October, will be based in Port Erin.

The festival was launched on the island in 2004 and a five-day event was held in June, for which visitors travelled from as far afield as America.

Organisers hope it will attract walkers who want to see the island at a different time of year and say they have already had several bookings.

'Flora and fauna'

The Isle of Man Autumn Walking Festival will run from 12-15 October.

Co-ordinator Mick Salmon said: "A lot of people said they would like to return to see the island at a different time of year.

"It was felt this might also appeal to a different market as it would provide a weekend break and not necessitate people taking much time off work.

"The type of flora and fauna on view is totally different in October and there is no doubt that is the time of year to see the Manx glens at their best."
