More single people are signing up for the festival |
More than 1,000 people have signed up to take part in an 85-mile walking event on the Isle of Man. Organisers of the Parish Walk said 1,027 competitors had already registered for the 24 June event.
The walk is part of the Isle of Man Walking Festival and starts early in the morning at the National Sports Centre in Douglas.
A record 1,317 started the race last year. There is still one week to go for people to register for the walk.
Tourism Minister David Cretney and last year's runner-up Sean Hands are among those who have entered. The event finishes off the festival.
Walkers can decide how far they want to walk. They can either do the Rushen route at 19 miles or the Peel route at 32.5 miles.
The serious walkers walk past Peel to try to finish the 85-mile walk within the 24 hour allocated time.
