More single people are signing up for the festival
More people than ever before have signed up to take part in an 85-mile walking event on the Isle of Man.

Organisers said 153 have already signed up to take part in this year's 24-hour Parish Walk on 24 June.

The event is part of the Isle of Man Walking Festival and starts early in the morning at the National Sports Centre in Douglas.

Tourism Minister David Cretney and last year's runner-up Sean Hands are among those who have entered.

The event finishes off the festival.

Walkers can decide how far they want to walk. They can either do the Rushen route at 19 miles or the Peel route at 32.5 miles.

The serious walkers walk past Peel to try and finish the 85-mile walk within the 24 hour allocated time.
