The 28-strong Manx team won two medals, a gold and a bronze |
Isle of Man residents lined the streets of Douglas on Thursday to welcome the victorious Commonwealth Games team. This year at the games in Melbourne, cyclist Mark Cavendish won gold and shooters David Walton and Trevor Boyles took bronze medals.
The team were on the top deck of an open top horse tram for a homecoming parade from the Sea Terminal to the Villa Marina.
They arrived in time for the fourth Sports Awards presentation.
Before this year, the island claimed six medals since its debut in 1958.
Tourism Minister David Cretney says it is important for the government and people of the Isle of Man to recognise outstanding achievements.
