Creevy is concerned about a lack of sports funding

Creevy failed to reach the final of the men's 50m individual prone rifle competition at the games in Melbourne earlier this week.

He said the success of cyclist Mark Cavendish proves the funding issue needs to be addressed.

Cavendish won a gold medal in the 20km scratch race.

It was the island's first Commonwealth gold in 20 years.

"We have support at home, from the Sports Council and through Sports Aid Foundation, we are lucky in that respect," he said.

"But what has to be addressed in the Isle of Man is that if you want high class performers, you are going to have to address the funding issue.

"If you look at the Scots, the Welsh, the English, they all made the finals again today - and all on Lottery funding.

"It's been a build up for the last two years to drive it forward.
