Nominations closed for election

Island Hall
Voting and the count will take place in Island Hall

A total of 57 candidates will fight it out to be elected in Sark's historic election next month.

Nearly 500 islanders are expected to go to the polls on 10 December to democratically elect 28 members of the Chief Pleas.

The changes to Sark's constitution were made in order to comply with human rights legislation.

For more than four centuries, the island's tenants (landowners) have automatically had a seat.

About 600 people live on Sark, with 474 eligible to vote.

Notices have now been put up asking for volunteers to man the polling station and to conduct the count after the poll closes.
