Historic election draws nominees

Twenty people have so far put themselves forward to stand in Sark's historic elections.

When islanders go to the polls on 10 December it will be the first time the whole of Chief Pleas has been democratically elected.

The changes to Sark's constitution were made in order to comply with human rights legislation.

For more than four centuries, the island's tenants (landowners) have automatically had a seat.

Under the new constitution voters will elect 28 members.

Nominations will close on 26 November.
