Move to ease new tax transition
A communications officer has been appointed to help with the introduction of a new corporation tax in Guernsey.

The new "zero-ten" tax come into force in January, with some businesses paying 0% tax on corporate profits, while others are to be taxed at 10%.

Many businesses have admitted they are not convinced the tax changes will have a positive impact on them.

It is hoped the new officer will help break down any misunderstandings over the tax.

The officer starts work on Monday and will cost the Treasury and Resources Department 40,000 a year.

The tax change aims to increase Guernsey's attractiveness as a place to do business.

Offshore jurisdictions such as Jersey and the Isle of Man have already decided to adopt a similar arrangement.
