Minister allays fears on new tax
Lyndon Trott
Lyndon Trott is putting faith in economic growth
Guernsey's new tax regime for companies will have a "minimal" affect on tax payers, says a minister.

Corporation tax will be changed next year to maintain the attractiveness of Guernsey as a place to do business.

A new "zero-ten" system means some companies would pay 0% tax, while others would be taxed at 10%.

The island faces a financial black hole of 50m, but Treasury Minister Lyndon Trott said if economic growth remained healthy the impact would be minimal.

At the end of May the first major report looking at the detail and how the policy will be implemented goes to the States.

It should give a clearer picture of the islands economy and finances going into the new regime.
