Minister quizzed over tax changes
States of Guernsey
The States wants to make the island more attractive to businesses
A senior politician will face tough questioning from some of the Guernsey's most influential business leaders.

Treasury and Resources Minister Lyndon Trott will be quizzed on the island's economic readiness for proposed tax changes next year.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) is holding a special seminar about progress on filling the expected financial black hole of 50m.

Mr Trott will be joined on the panel by Rosemary Radcliffe and Tony Galliene.

Moderator Stephen Jones said the current political uncertainty within the States gave the seminar added importance.

To maintain Guernsey's attractiveness as a place to do business, the States is considering plans for companies to pay less corporation tax from 2008.

A new "zero-ten" system means some companies would pay 0% tax, while others would be taxed at 10%.
