Minister to object to tax reforms
Guernsey's social security minister is to outline her objections to proposed tax reforms at a meeting of the island's business leaders.

Deputy Mary Lowe has said the plans to increase business and employee social security contributions would turn it into a tax.

The move by the Policy Council is seen as a way of reducing a budget shortfall if corporation tax is scrapped in 2008.

Mrs Lowe will speak at the Chamber of Commerce lunch on Tuesday.

Guernsey is currently facing a multi-million pound budget shortfall.
