Cash shortage slows police plans
Guernsey Police Station
The fight against terrorism has also extra burdens on police
An increase in the number of police officers on the beat in Guernsey has been ruled out for the time being.

The force is under pressure from a shortage of both staff and money.

In its annual plan, Guernsey Police puts tackling the problems of disorder and anti-social behaviour at the top of its list of priorities.

But in the same document, Chief Officer George Le Page has admitted that with the current resources, it would not yet be possible.

The force has had its budget frozen, and is still experiencing problems of recruiting enough staff.

The fight against terrorism has also placed extra burdens on officers, Chief Le Page said.
