Police boss hits back at critics
The chairman of Guernsey's police association has hit back at criticism of the force's policing of the island.

A series of recent robberies has led to calls from politicians for better law enforcement as well as more officers on the beat.

John Tostevin says the force is understaffed and his members are at breaking point.

He says he is angry with the lack of support and wants the States to help find ways to solve the staff shortages.

"The States decided on an established strength of 177 officers some years back," he said.

"We have never reached 177 and instead of criticising what we are doing and the lack of police on the beat, the States should be now seriously considering what they should do to bring the Guernsey police force up to its full establishment."
