Flybe abandons Paris route plan

Flybe says a route using both islands is more viable
Flybe has said it will be unable to progress with plans for a new air link between the Channel Islands and Paris.

The airline had requested a cash subsidy from the States of Jersey to help offset the risk.

But the island's government decided not to provide funding although the States of Guernsey had backed the route.

In a statement on Friday Flybe said it was "disappointed" but will continue to explore other route options from the Channel Islands.

It is hopes new routes from Guernsey will materialise in future and talks with the Commerce and Employment Department are on going.

Mike Rutter, of Flybe, said flying from both islands made the route more viable.
