New recycling champion for island
A former Keep Britain Tidy campaigner has been given the task of promoting recycling in Guernsey.

Janice Dockerill has recently been appointed as the island's first recycling officer.

She has 25 years experience in environmental campaigns, having worked for Encams, formerly Keep Britain Tidy.

Now she is taking on what is expected to be a high-profile role aimed at increasing the rate of recycling among islanders.

Her job will be to raise awareness of recycling initiatives and to alert people to ways they can help to reduce the amount of rubbish going into the Mont Cuet tip.

She takes up the post at a time when new kerbside recycling schemes are being trialled in two parishes and plastic recycling is expected to be introduced in May.
