Kerbside recycling to be launched
A kerbside recycling scheme is set to be offered to households in the parish of St Peter's.

It follows a successful trial in which 11 tonnes of waste was collected in St Peter's Port in a month.

The trial recycling of paper, tins, glass and textiles was offered to homes in an attempt to take pressure off Guernsey's Mont Cuet landfill site.

Officials said the service was due to be offered to houses in St Peter's before the start of summer.

Residents have to separate their recyclable rubbish by type and leave it out to be picked up from their doorsteps.

The Mont Cuet tip is expected to be full by 2013.
