Row over police pay increase deal
Police tape
The force is about 30 people short of its full compliment of 177
The politician in charge of paying Guernsey's public sector workers claims new police recruits will be much better off following under a new pay package.

It has incentives to attract new staff and bonuses for long-serving officers.

But the deal has been criticised by the Police Association, which claims the salary increase is below inflation.

Jonathan Le Tocq of the Public Sector Remuneration Committee said comparisons with inflation were not justified, and that all officers were being rewarded.

Although the specifics of the package have not been made public, Mr Le Tocq said he was hopeful the deal would go some way to addressing the force's problems with recruitment.

The island's force is currently about 30 people short of its full compliment of 177 officers.
