Airport's fuel problem resolved
Plane at Guernsey Airport
Planes have been refuelling at Guernsey airport
A new fuel store is set to be built for Alderney airport within weeks to resolve a crisis which forced aircraft to refuel in Guernsey.

The current facility near the harbour was closed because it did not meet strict health and safety guidelines.

Following talks to overcome the problem, Alderney States have pledged thousands of pounds for a new storage site elsewhere in the island.

A further storage site at the airport itself is still being considered.

The supplier Cyma had a delivery of fuel turned away from the island on Friday after Alderney's States ruled there was nowhere suitable to store it.
