Passenger numbers on the increase
Alderney Airport
300 fewer light aircraft visited Alderney last year
Alderney airport has announced a sharp rise in commercial passengers over the past year.

The number travelling was 73,880, more than 2,000 more than the previous year. Of the two airlines operating services to Alderney, Aurigny carried by far the most passengers - 60,598- compared with Rockhopper's 13,282.

But Aurigny's numbers are down on the Jersey route while Rockhopper continues to make inroads with its expanded service to Brighton and Guernsey.

In terms of private aviation 300 fewer light aircraft visited Alderney last year.

This is being attributed to poor weather and the airspace restrictions imposed by the French for the D-Day celebrations.
