Island's airport runs out of fuel
Plane at Guernsey Airport
Travel has been disrupted by poor weather conditions
Aircraft are being forced to refuel in Guernsey because Alderney airport has run out of fuel.

A delivery of fuel was turned away from the island on Friday after Alderney's States ruled there was nowhere suitable to store it.

In the past, fuel has been kept at a special site near the harbour, which has since been deemed unsuitable.

Guernsey's Airport Director, Colin Le Ray, says the situation could take several weeks to resolve.

Meanwhile poor weather conditions are continuing to cause travel problems in the Channel Islands.

On Friday thousands of people had their flights to and from Jersey cancelled due to fog.

The disruption is continuing to hit the airport and harbour.
