New housing development praised
The completion of 82 new homes in Guernsey is being heralded as 'tremendous progress' towards meeting the island's social housing needs.

About 200 residents are expected to move into the development at the Bouet.

The scheme is a joint partnership between the Housing Association and the Housing Department.

Deputy minister Mark Dorey claims it has brought to life a part of Guernsey which was run down, and has helped reduce the social housing waiting list.

The developers say the estate is proving popular with the residents who have already moved in.

The properties have been designed to take advantage of modern building technologies, and should be less expensive to heat.
