Tenants of Guernsey's States houses may soon be able to turn to an independent appeals panel to air any grievances. Under new proposals from the Housing Department, the tribunal would examine concerns relating to rent rebates or the right to live in social housing.
The department believes it is time changes were made to the agreements held by States tenants which have remained unaltered for about 50 years.
If the plans are accepted by deputies, they will come into force on 7 May.
The introduction of a new tenancy agreement for occupants of States houses is also being considered. It would incorporate a legal framework for the first time.
