Social housing development opens
A major housing development officially opens in Guernsey on Tuesday.

Delancey Court is the first social housing scheme run by the island's Housing Association to be completed.

The association's chief executive, Peter Jones, says the new development will help to reduce some of the burden placed on States housing.

About 75% of the tenants who will live in the 34 affordable apartments at Delancey Court have been nominated by the States.

Mr Jones says the States has assessed the profile of its tenancy and housing stock and moved people around to try to achieve better solutions.

He added: "We're freeing up some family housing for the States as a result of this new development."
