New appeals tribunal for tenants
New agreements for Guernsey States' housing tenants have been approved by island politicians.

In the first major overhaul of social housing in 50 years, the occupants of States houses will have an independent appeals tribunal they can turn to.

Under plans put forward by the island's Housing Department, the panel will look at grievances concerning the right to live in social housing or rent rebates.

Proposals will take effect from May and include changes to tenancy agreements.
