School needs specialist services
Les Beaucamps School
Les Beaucamps is to be rebuilt
Specialist teaching facilities must be made a priority at Les Beaucamps School in Guernsey, according to the school's head teacher.

Peter Le Cheminant say the facilities are necessary because of the changing needs of the curriculum.

Work on a new sports hall and four new classrooms at the school is expected to begin in 2006.

But Mr Le Cheminant says he hopes an entirely new school will eventually be built on the site.

The rebuilding of Les Beaucamps is part of the Education Council's plans for the reorganisation of the island's secondary education.

The development will take place in two phases, to allow existing buildings to be used during the construction of the new facilities.

Information technology (IT), science and languages are areas where specialist services could benefit pupils.
