| One waste incinerator to serve both Jersey and Guernsey is being considered by the islands' governments. A spokesman for Guernsey's Environment Department claims the case for a joint facility is stronger than ever. The idea of the two islands sharing an incinerator has been looked at before, but was rejected. Now Guernsey's Environment Department claims both waste strategies are closer than ever, making the possibility of just one plant more feasible. Chief Officer Steve Smith says no positive decisions can be made until the Waste to Energy panel reports back to the States at the beginning of next year.
